bitcoin++ conference is headed to Berlin Oct. 6-7 and is focused on Nix and Bitcoin.
Between our two offices, @niftynei pitched me on SN becoming a sponsor for the hackathon, but I thought it'd be way cooler if the Stacker News community was the sponsor. I can't imagine an online community has satrsaised a hackathon sponsorship before. How cool would that be!
Nifty said typical threshold for this is 7.5m sats. I'm not sure we can hit that threshold, but maybe we can raise enough to sponsor Hot Pockets and Mountain Dew for the bitcoin hackers at the conference.

hey! they went really well! we had about 100particpants; but only 3 hackathon entries. short hackathon time tho (just a 1/2 day).
the satsraiser raised about 1.6M sats total, which went to Jonas Nick + Eric Sirion's "niximint" project. They split the prize; Jonas's portion went to the nix-bitcoin "donation fund" from which we pay hosting, DNS, etc; Eric sent his to a Fedimint grant pool that he manages.
