How do we create a Bitcoin circular economy?
I'd like to see millions of people earning and spending in Bitcoin.
It's quite easy to spend Bitcoin now. Online there's a million places to spend Bitcoin.
Earning Bitcoin continues to be a struggle. Nostr, Fountain, Zebedee, THNDR games and others now allow you to earn a few 100 sats with ease... but earning enough to buy a coffee every day (~3000 sats) is still difficult.
I've often thought that if Uber or Airbnb started to pay drivers, owners in Bitcoin that would immediately allow millions of people to earn sats... but these big corporations are way too slow.
Praia Bitcoin in Brazil or Bitcoin Ekasi in South Africa have managed to build circular economies... but they rely on donations and that is not scalable.
We need a sustainable business model that allows millions of people to #earn sats!
By starting normal companies that only accept Bitcoin and have them be competitive with their fiat equivalents. Which theoretically shouldn't be hard, at least in small scale businesses, since operating on bitcoin allows escaping from state taxation and regulation. This means that the outlaw must fly under the radar but also has a much higher degree of freedom and better margins.

I'm confused by this post. You say there are millions of places to spend. Are those not examples of earning? Is the problem that you want to earn it some other way than those million people are?

You could try owning some nodes, become a Podcaster, and find jobs that supports earning sats as part of your income.

become a Podcaster, LOL are you serious?

man.. totllay resonates.. i left the big city like 5 years ago and went to a small town.. now lurking to buy a piece of land. If you have to buy power cables for the water mill or the solar panels, i sell for sats. probably not super cheap to deliever to central europe but we can make it happen since we jump several middle mans. not looking for profit.. just looking to feed that circular economy

reply
what about the beer?
Beer have a special place on the back of the house, a special cold room. Meanwhile... my favorite beers are in the cold river nearby
Fascinating question.
I think firstly, the idea of getting sats must be nuanced. Right now, founders of start-up companies exhort us to use their products, proclaiming that the sats they offer are easy to get with minimal effort. While that is true, it creates a problem in that Bitcoiners canā€™t take these products seriously. I mean, as much as I want to accumulate sats, I canā€™t help feeling silly when I use sites like satsforlikes or litstak. I mean, Iā€™m grateful for those petty sats, but when I take into consideration how invaluable my time is, itā€™s thanks but not thanks for me. So what I mean by a more layered idea of getting sats is that other than satsforlikes and litstak, there are other sites out there that pay a cool 3000 or 5000 sats for quality work submitted. (in actual fact, 3000-5000 sats arenā€™t a lot actually but they do brighten up my day on the rare occasion I rack up such amounts.)
In addition, in order for a BTC circular economy to occur, these apps gotta work flawlessly. Right now, I canā€™t access my sats from sMiles because it wonā€™t verify my mobile number. I donā€™t know why an error persists when I want to withdraw sats from Vestly. I have given Fountain a go 2-3 times but never once have I been able to earn sats from it. So, coupled with ā€œcheapā€ sats, the problem of the unreliability of some apps in generating sats is a turn-off.
I actually think that Stacker News works very well as a model. Not necessarily because I get many zaps here but because it generously distributes the zaps to us Stackers from its advertising revenue. Itā€™s affirming to see myself being rewarded with sats just by tipping others. It encourages people to be more generous in zapping because they wanna benefit from the win-win situation. Itā€™s something that Heyapollo can look into. Right now, they want to rely on their users to zap other peopleā€™s reviews but come on, how many people will be committed to zapping others? So I feel that Stacker News ennobles me as a content creator.

You are right. Many of these apps earns you small sat for a lot of time spent. 2 apps I use are not paying out and the support team also went mia. I'm not good at content creation so here on SN it's still a challenge for me to engage and also be and feel part of the community here. I have to add that even with my little bit of engagement here, I've earned some good sats. I mostly use that sats to zap content here and or to send a stupid reply like thisšŸ˜¬

No, it isnā€™t stupid. It got my attention. Thanks for sharing your POV

It makes sense that you can't earn much from those activities, since they don't create very much value for others.
It's a good point about the need to bring "Gig Economy" jobs into the Bitcoin world. Hopefully, that will be coming soon.

Hello. Yes I also find it hard to stack sats as I'm new to it and also not a very good content creator in order to earn sats here on SN. I'm using THNDR games and 2 or 3 other ways to stack but honestly, I don't stack enough in one day to make up for the time spent to stack. If I can stack 15-20K sats per day, then I can make it. Checking out that link now. Thank you.

It's better to look at what is El Salvador doing?

I have earned the most sats from SN and my shakepay visa card. I think in the past 15 months from all sources of "earning" sats I am close to 1M sats. That's not a bad start for low income people who struggle to afford stacking. I could earn a lot more as well that is just basic rewards from picking up a few things at the grocery store, pharmacy and home depot here and there and paying with my shakepay card. My wife does the bulk of the family shopping, we would earn a ton more if she was using the shakepay card.

Good point made here. But if all these could be realized Bitcoin will be household something to everyone.

Getting 3000 sats a day from faucets is one heck of a serious work, I rather you work and be paid in sats

Bitcoin is a holding, it's for hold and save your money, not a fiat currency, the worst coin that circulated.
