Good morning stackers!

It's still October, it's still spooky season so I went looking for "dark" themed stuff.

I stumbled across a sub genre of techno called "dark techno"

These guys stood out to me, gave me a very "the matrix" club kinda vibe.

Let me know how you get on with it.

So what have you got for dark themed tracks, staying in lane for October this time round?

Lets have fun with it.

That probably describes my entire musical interests…

Dead Boys Poem - Nightwish Snow White Queen - Evanesence

However for the truest dark; Bill Bailey - The Magic Roundabout. Terrifying….

reply

Big nightwish fan, same for evanescence. And Bill bailey is a national treasure. Great tracks.

reply

Nightwish makes another appearance

reply

Nightwish army is everywhere. Haha.

reply

Nightwish united…. but so much infighting at times. Like a family we stand against outsiders but fight like cat-and-dog amongst ourselves.

reply

Especially when someone asks the age old stupid question. Who was the best front woman in nightwish history.

It's all claws and teeth then.

reply

Oh yes…. I just reply; ‘ Elize Ryd & Alissa White-Gluz’ that shuts people up.

reply

Elize auditioned for nightwish I believe, post Annette, but obviously they went with floor.

Also elize rude & Alissa white-gluz with kamelot in sacrimony is amazing.

reply

Surprisingly never did very much deftones when I was younger. But that's a great track, really fits the theme of the week, might be the only one of theirs I actually know haha. The vocalist had these really long almost strained and whining notes that fit the dark and eerie nature to the track.

reply

Listen to that whole album "white pony", it's awesome.

reply

White pony is a solid album

reply

Shall do. I got an early morning gym session 2moro with white pony written all over it.

Z-trip ft. Chester Bennington - Walking Dead

I'd never heard this before! What a gem! I didn't expect Chester's voice to fit with a dark kinda theme, lyrics yes, but his voice usually gives a different vibe to eerie. But it really works, there really was nothing he couldn't do. Brilliant vocalist and so multidimensional. Thanks for this recommendation.

I rememver thinking it was such a cool track when I first heard it. The track called "Breakfast Club" on there is pretty funny.

some dubstep, any from Deep Medi Goth-Trad - Anti Grid (Official video)

reply

This sent me to a place of focus. Sounds fantastic, goth trad seems like a brilliant creator. Some of the sounds he uses are really subtle but add so much, like the water droplets. Really creative. Great track.

Really interesting how music works. And affects mood aswell. If I come to work blasting heavy ass aggressive metal, then I feel aggressive and also... Kinda relaxed and happy. Mixed bag of good stuff.

But you listen to something melancholy and watch yourself come right down to low really quickly.

Although strangely music that I find depressing, my wife tells me she finds relaxing.

I was listening to Heilung the other day and I find that puts me in a really good place. Like a state of readiness, but my wife says it makes her chest feel tight and triggers a fright response. Which was interesting. But she'll listen to Damien rice and say it's calming and relaxing, but I find it sad and depressing.

It's fascinating what/how music affects us.

I get what you're saying. It's good, but there's something about it that I just can't describe... It's almost eerie but not like standard eerie feelings, ominous is a good description.
