A bit of a messy Monday Night Football game, which fit right into the ethos of week 6 in the NFL.
Congrats to the new pick 'em champ, @Turdinthepunchbowl. Back on the mountain top. Survivor pool week 7 post will be out shortly from the Survivor account.
While the MNF game was a bit of a mess, one thing that definitely is not a mess is the way the Texas Rangers and Philadelphia Phillies are playing baseball this postseason. These two scorching hot teams look like they are on a collision course for the world series but the Astros and Dbacks can still have something to say about that.
TGFBAF (Thank God For Baseball and Football- so I didn't have to watch the pathetic Maple Leafs last night- although I do enjoy watching them lose).
Sats for all.
Cheers, GR
The Islanders remain undefeated

Right after I wrote the Leafs comment, I checked if the Islanders play tonight to see if we were getting game day Siggy today.

Just an idea. I'm not even sure if it's a good one, and I came up with it. IF there are hockey fans in our little sports meta here, the NHL is having a Frozen Frenzy next Tuesday, 10/24. All 32 NHL teams play that night. We pick winners. I'm not sure how ante or pot would work.
reply
I like it. Everyone puts in 1k sats, most winners wins?
reply
Exactly, but only if there is interest.

Just about to do the daily post. Running late today because we had the power out for a few hours this morning for some work the electric company was doing locally. I will throw it out there.
reply
Clearly, I'm a basketball sicko, but NBA preseason has been pretty compelling.

Hey, I watch spring training baseball so I know how you feel. What do you think of the Raptors this year? They didn't make a big trade but they have a new coach and a new system. I like Schroeder and I think Barnes will have a big year.
My intuition is they will be in that messy middle, play in crowd.
reply
I haven't watched the Raptors. I'm not that big of a sicko. I've always liked Schroeder, though, and he looked like the best player in the world this summer.
reply
Haha, I haven't watched them either so that makes two of us but the guys on the Raps podcast I listen to occasionally seem hopeful. I really can't see them finishing anywhere above 7 or 8.

You were so close. Coaching ineptness likely you cost you. Who doesn't QB sneak on 4th and inches from the 6 yard line to get a first down? Chargers that's who.
Of course if they score a TD or FG there Cowboys might not end up winning so who knows.
reply
I'm surprised they didn't utilise the eagles "brotherly shove" it's like a guarantee of a conversion. But oh well onto next week. Now I gotta struggle through the survivor pool, I don't like any of these matchups. Even the 9ers look beat up and the Vikings are one of those infuriating teams that can hang with the best and play down to the worst. Last season we won lots of one score games, this season, we're losing one score games with mistakes. There's a world where we come out and beat the 9ers. I probably don't exist in that reality but theoretically it exists.
reply
This week looks pretty bleak for survivor pool. I'm having a hard time making my pick. Keep in mind that half the teams usually win, so our odds aren't that bad.
reply
Coin flip really. Tails this one heads that one.
reply
I am probably going to pick the Seahawks even though I hate them and know they will probably shit the bed at home in a division game. I want to save chiefs, bills and 49ers for later if I make it there.
reply
I hate divisional matchups. And I dunno if the bills are such a sure fire pick anymore, they seem to be having some problems.
reply
Speaking of divisional rivalries. @tnuts420 is mighty quiet since his Lions ascended to a tie at the top of the conference. Sometimes you just need to let the sweet sounds of victory speak for themselves.
reply
Is it silence or is it smugness, I can feel the eyes burning into me and my misplaced preseason faith in the Vikings.
i just figured it would be in poor taste to pile on, the poor dude has enough to worry about being a vikings fan as it is. plus i was briefly considering running with the 49ers this week, and didn't want to jinx myself
Yeah divisional games are always tough. I want to save the Bills and give them a couple more weeks after their clear London trip hangover.
reply
The Pats are terrible, but I'm still worried about the combination of Josh Allen's recklessness and Belichick's scheming.
reply
If @nflsurvivor2023 doesn't accept my plea to use a team on their bye, I'll probably take the Bills. I was trying to avoid divisional matchups.
reply
I don't hate the bills call. I almost want to go browns. Coming off a big win, ride that wave.
If Purdy plays like last week, Shanahan coaches like last week, CMC is out, Deebo is out, Greenlaw is out, and our rookie kicker muffs 2/3 FGs again then yes Vikings have a good chance to win especially at home.
Chargers didn't even need the brotherly shove. It was less than half a yard. Herbert is 6'6. Just an old fashioned QB sneak would do.
reply
He's not drew Brees lol that's his problem. Brees was the king of that move.
I think purdy will be alright, we can't generate a pass rush and our corners although doing alright are being hung out to dry.
reply
Why thank you. I feel a streak coming, look out world...or at least SN members!
