I never know whether to be happy or sad when a feature results in few net lines of code added.

On one hand it implies the code was bloated before. On the other it implies functionality was added without accruing new code debt.

Most people don't change throughout their lives. If we are who we are, I want to be change.

Two Venezuelan female migrants with children knocked on my door today. They had a sign in English asking for anything I can give them. With my broken Spanish I was able to communicate with them and confirmed their need for help. So I gave them some snacks, canned goods, food, and $20

This is the first time in my life I ever experienced something like this. Situations like this makes me think Bitcoin isn’t ready for such transactions.

I wish them the best.

reply

Never negotiate with terrorists.
Never feed beggars.
Never "help" migrants.

You are making it worse than you think by helping these.
I know that sounds harsh but this is the plain truth.

reply

It is harsh. Not sure if I have the stomach to not give when I have so much and people can barley eat.

But I get your angle they gotta produce to consume just like I do

New roof and it’s leaking into the house = not a good day!

reply

Shame, I feel your pain, I know what ot is like to have a leaky roof, it is not nice especially in winter.

reply

That sucks. Our roof is closing in on the end of it's expected lifetime and we're thinking about moving instead of dealing with it (and the other major household items that are nearing their demise).

reply

like fiat...
stop living in a fiat world.
Step away

reply

I need a roof over my head that preferably doesn’t leak for shelter, but a Bitcoin miner can keep you warm, my mortgage co doesn’t accept Bitcoin and I just stack more daily and HODL it.

I hope nobody IRL finds out I'm working out in the loo.

reply

Good job! And I’m guessing it’s a rainy day where you are.

reply

Yes, but it was the right kind of rain. Light drizzle, mild temperature, and a nice cycle along the coast.

Seems things in the saloon are a bit tame on hump day compared to the weekend!
Things get very exciting at Bitcoin Grove in Miami, as we start to fill in the new space and make it a home. Yesterday we brought a large wooden table that can be used for conferences or other purposes. The new spot has a better location and much easier parking. Our neighbors also seem friendlier. This morning it will host the first meeting of Miami's Bitcoin Design Club at 8am. I'll be at work, but I wish them a fruitful meeting.

I started planning a regular, in-person Bitcoin for Beginners session to begin in the near future, maybe January, which will start with invitation only and after we feel confident in our methodology we can open it up to the general public.
I hope everyone has a great day.

reply

Whatever you do, don't use UV lights at the event.

Idiots at this event wasn't so lucky. They got exposed to UV rays at the Bored 'Blind' Yacht Club and almost went blind.

https://news.sky.com/story/bored-ape-yacht-club-aware-of-eye-related-issues-following-festival-in-hong-kong-13002404

This is cool.
Do you have regular new nocoiners coming to those meetups?

reply

Miami has a few different meetups. Bitcoin brunch is the only weekly meetup and I have met many pre-coiners. Bitcoin Grove is still relatively new so we haven't had much opportunity to engage the general public. Some members don't want to engage the public at all, or have different levels to which they are willing to be a face of bitcoin.

reply

I wake up in full daylight now. One good thing about the stupid time change.

reply

Totally. I have been waking up at ~5:20 multiple mornings in a row. At least today I managed to go back to sleep until 7.

reply

Pitch black when I wake and the Sun sets before dinner

reply

If you want my advice: have dinner in the morning when the sun rises ;)

reply

Brilliant!

reply

Lmao. I'm glad you liked the suggestion.

reply

Lol. I guess you're not a vampire. That's a relieve, Lol.

reply

I wake up in a beautiful sunlight. after 3 weeks of intensive rain, finally I have some nice sunny days. I hope will be like that for few days.

reply

Does that mean you will be off building for a few days?

reply

No, I can't go to my citadel, is full of snow at that altitude now.
But here in the village is still nice.
With these sunny days, is time to cut some more wood (winter is coming fast this year) and collect some blueberries.

reply

Fun fact about me: I've never seen or experienced snow before. We do experience snowy months but in the mountains and that's nowhere near where I live. I have a feeling I won't really enjoy the experience but I would like to experience snow just once in my life.

reply

snow is nice, but sometimes is a nightmare...

reply

I can imagine.

reply

Just one more month and then we are officially entering the summer season. Not looking forward to the hot African weather.
