The 19th came with countless historical events that defined the age, the "Industrial Age":
  • Widespread growth of factories
  • Steam engine & railway networks
  • The automobile
  • Slavery
  • Napoleanic wars, Civil War, etc.
Then in the 20th century, we took the world even further, into the "Information Age":
  • Widespread telephone adoption
  • The transistor
  • Personal computers
  • Arpanet --> Internet
  • More war. Lots and lots of war.
Now that we're all here hanging out in the 21st century (I'm mostly sure), what major historical events will future society look back on as defining moments of this century? Of the "Digital Age"?
What's already happened? Has yet to happen? Won't happen that people think will???
  • AGI
  • Immortality for the rich
  • Fusion
  • Bitcoin
  • Sixth mass extinction event

Who will the "rich" be at that point?

Probably those who converted fiat to Bitcoin in the first half of the century. I would only accept Bitcoin to provide that service ;)
This year we already have achieved reverse aging in mice.
