A car bomb going off, killing tens and injuring hundreds of people, half a mile from where I was sitting. One tends to remember such moments.
horrible, i can't even imagine. Sorry to hear that

Let me try and counter that with an awesome memory:
Witnessing my first (and only) total solar eclipse. Weeks of planning ahead for the event. A friend even drove all the way out to the "perfect site in a deserted area" to see if we'd be able to camp there from the day before, as the eclipse was to happen early the next morning. (Google Earth wasn't a thing back then, btw.)
On our arrival there a few days later, we discovered the whole area cleared and practically taken over by NASA! We managed to find a spot to set up camp, though.
The eclipse was awesome. Well worth the effort.

I remember that recent one too (2016 was it?)
Didn’t get as good of a view as you sounds like but that was a distinct memory for me too, was a very cool day

Can't remember the exact date, but it must have been at least 20 year ago.

Thanks. The perpetrators also lost their lives in the blast, so there's that...
