We have many new folks to SN and for those of you that aren't hip to how the media works I give you this.
These are the same sources of truth telling you we are all gonna die and AI is going to produce fake news. Be very afraid. Try to remember that they aren't only wrong when they write about things you understand. They are wrong most of the time.
They aren't just ignorant. Sometimes that may be the case but I believe they willfully deceive the masses for their own gain.
Learning about Bitcoin and then seeing the media coverage was a huge realization for me about the media. They ARE ignorant or willfully deceptive about things. And when you see it regarding a topic you know, you have to remember to see it about everything else. This phenomenon has a name: Gell-Mann Amnesia

This phenomenon has a name: Gell-Mann Amnesia
I knew the phenomenon had a name and sometimes even tell people how it works, but I keep forgetting the name. (It's like doubly-amnesia? lol.)
Thanks for reminding me. Again. I'm definitely possibly going to remember it this time...

I observed the same pattern after I deployed my own solar panels on my roof. The reporting in MSM was complete bullocks.
reply
I didn't know it had a name, but I've heard of the concept before. And I can't even tell all the times the MSM have been wrong about electronics, electricity, and especially the power grid. The latter often corresponding to how they want reality to be, regarding intermittent power sources.

Bitcoin also uses sausage. Every Bitcoin miner uses enough sausage to fill three Olympic sized food carts.

I think they don't understand the liquid protocol just yet.

Yeah, that's a good take.
How much energy does the military machine use every 10 minutes?

I wanted to see how widespread this nonsense is, because the outlets seen in your screenshots aren't exactly the worst MSM has to offer (although, that's debatable).
Not surprisingly, it's "all over the internet". For example:

When the same soundbyte hits multiple outlets it always feels like a warning larger hands are doing the opposite in the background. Originally the narrative was that bitcoin was environmentally unfriendly. Once Blackrock settled in to setting up their ETF it suddenly became environmentally friendly. I wouldn't be surprised if this was a last ditch effort to catalyze that prehalving correction people are expecting to scoop up cheaper coin.

They will never stop attacking bitcoin because their ad revenue relies on it.
The only ETF I am interested in is End The FUD

I'm ashamed this bs comes from a fellow Dutch guy who's working at the Dutch Central Bank (https://www.linkedin.com/in/alex-de-vries-a5b51349/). He has a long track record of this kind of bs articles about Bitcoin (and AI as well!). Just look at his website digiconomist.net
The Dutch btc community has done a good job on debunking this on https://bitcoinwiki.nl/wiki/Digiconomist

Bitcoin burns water. Literally sets it on fire. 360,000 swimming pools daily have gone up in flames 🤦
When I was a teenager, a kid at school got killed by a train. The local newspapers reported on it. Every story was different. They didn't add up. It was at that moment I knew reporters had no interest in telling the truth. I haven't trusted them since.

this is a serious issue! everyone knows water used to cool bitcoin mining equipment is removed from the natural water cycle forever. that's just science. /s
this is seriously some of the dumbest fud i've ever seen. like flat-earth level stupid. they must be getting desperate. or have no respect for the intelligence of the target audience. or both

This is so absurd on its face... I mean it has left me without words. If people actually fall for this we may have a crisis of stupidity on our hands.

It's understandable to feel wary of media sources, especially with the constant barrage of sensationalized or misleading information. While skepticism toward media narratives can be healthy, it's essential to verify information from multiple reputable sources and critically evaluate their credibility. Misinformation and sensationalism exist in various forms, often influenced by motives like garnering attention or advancing particular agendas. Maintaining a balanced and discerning approach while consuming news can help navigate through the noise and misinformation prevalent in today's media landscape.
