Good morning stackers, it looks like it's going to rain on my side of the world. This is the best type of weather to just relax at home and make some sats. I hope you all enjoy your day and my it be a fruitful day for all of us.

Change makes life more interesting.
Your perception of time changes when you start doing new, different things.
You remember more, your life feels longer, more interesting.
So, embrace change!
reply
So true, like you say your perception changes and you also change, imbrace life's changes be it good or bad it is all part of the journey.

Do you want it to increase in value? NO. You want it to stay low so you can stack more sats. The higher the value, the less sats your stack.

Funny how often talk about electricity or solar power ends with me explaining how bitcoin fixes grid problems. Happened again on a work call.
I usually start talking about what I've learned about power grids and demand issues. For you all this is probably basic stuff but most people are clueless. I explain the issues with production vs demand. Then I mention how it would be cool if there were some consumer that could promise demand but curtail use when needed. Then I mention bitcoin miners could do this. Oh, and they already do. And it helps stabilize the grid.
Fun to watch people be amazed and the light bulb start to come on.
reply
That must be the best. Especially working in an industry who care less about virtue signalling and more about grid reliability, availability & capacity.
Kind of like talking to merchants whose payments are being blocked. Or being debanked. No brainer decision. I’m sure it’s like an 80% success rate in the energy industry.

I work it tech not energy. But engineers talk about energy.

Intriguing observation about the timing of Ocean's launch and discussions on Bitcoin's water usage. Probably not a coincidence.

You better be careful with that. It's actually illegal to misappropriate the word "Olympic" in the US. They were talking about it on a recent Timcast IRL.

some of the interesting things I have been thinking about today
  • will stackers change zap amounts as Bitcoin price fluctuate? since there are quite some people living in Bitcoin standard here.
  • would it have better and better content here as SN gets more popular? as people need to do more POW to standout not just copy-pastes.
reply
Think you’re right on the quality of content. We’re eventually going to need certain thresholds and parameters upon which to filter content, as users & topics grow. We may still get low quality content but many of us won’t see it, if we don’t wish to.
A related thought I had around Nostr…
I wonder if in future users showing their zap notification threshold will get people increasing the value of zap contributions. Rather than users blindly deciding how much to send to share comments or advertise. Cost pull vs demand push.
reply
it seems like we are living through a really fun experiment, as SN is one of the few playgrounds to test V4V - real people share useful stuff voluntarily, while the majority part of the internet are focus on creating noise so to sell junk, not sure when people would realized that with the right info they can basically do everything themselves, instead of keep buying BS.
e.g. I wish I had read the DIY cold wallet post from @DarthCoin earlier, then I wouldn't waste my money on stupid ledger - real information is king.
reply
my zap levels are the same as I announce it last time

I'm actually zapping more as I'm stacking more, would be fun to observe others.

It's a loop: more you zap, more you get...

Just to clarify, I never forced anyone to pay anything.
I just pointed out that to me it seems fair to pay for using public infrastructure.
Value4Value.
Many people think they are independently doing things, but they rely on a country's public infrastructure to create their goods and services.
reply
Value4Value you say? What value you bring with this? Why should I pay for this crap? And this is just an example.
Value4value is when you bring some value FOR ME... not for you. And also value4value is VOLUNTARY, not forcibly...
reply
I see cars using a perfectly fine public road. They are conducting their business using public infrastructure.
But I'm sure you are referring to the fuck up in the middle. Sure, there are fuckups is basically every area that people work in. My point still remains though.

We made it, Stackerz. Friday. I'm about to do my whirlwind getting ready for work. I don't expect a great work day, but I expect a great day non-the-less! And I expect a weekend! Miami's Bitcoin Grove has been bustling with activity lately! We now have an in-house event EVERY week. In addition to Bitcoin Brunch which I've hosted over 125 times, that means Miami now has TWO Bitcoin ONLY meetups happening every week, one a general hangout and the other either a design group, or a source code review group. It's amazing and I expect powerful things to come out of the seeds we plant with these efforts today. On December 10th I will also inaugurate, along with my friend @Proof_of_Work_Fitness, our first Bitcoin for Beginners class, so we can start to hand out orange pills to confused crytpocuriouus and precoiners. Miami will be a bitcoin city!
