The new territories feature is amazing! Congrats @k00b @kr @ekzyis for the release.
I'd love to understand more about the vision for how cross-posting across multiple territories will work in the future:
  • will I be able to tag a post across multiple territories?
  • if a post was created in one territory but then becomes popular in another territory - how will that work?
will I be able to tag a post across multiple territories?
If I understood and remember @k00b right, you'll be able to select a post and say "also post this to this territory". But since every territory can set it's own posting fees, the fees might vary. However, now I am wondering if the comment sections should stay separate per territory (so a crosspost is really just like any other post on a territory) or one comment section for the post across all territories.
I think reddit has separate comment sections, right?
if a post was created in one territory but then becomes popular in another territory - how will that work?
What do you mean? You mean how ranking on home (the mother of all front pages) then will work?
If so, that's a good question haha. But I'll guess we'll just sum over all territories or something.
@k00b might have more to share.

As a random example lets say there is a territory ~vikings where people share their interest in the vikings (😅). Then lets say there is a territory ~history. If someone writes something amazing in ~vikings - could there be a way that it might be surfaced on the ~history territory without the poster specifically cross-posting it there?
For me the reason this would be really cool is it gives the more niche territories a chance of being discovered on the more broad territories.

K00b mention an update to the territories that brings sub subs So it will be ~history/vikings

I still think this is a good question. There is a lot of content that might be valued on multiple subs, but the original post didn't cross post it. It would be nice if we could pay the posting fee to cross post something from one territory into another and then get some share of the zaps that come from that territory.

aah thanks I missed that 👍

from the announcement:
create territories within other territories, eg ~bitcoin/privacy and ~bitcoin/mining the territory founder can sell sub-territories to other stackers at a price of their choosing

Yes. You'll pay posting fees for each territory you post in though - they're additive. If you want to post in ~bitcoin and ~podcasts, and each costs 10 sats, you'll pay 20 sats to crosspost.

If by popular you mean ranked high ...
With personalized ranking, which should get more sophisticated over time, popularity is relative. It can be popular to one viewer and not to another. It can be popular in one territory but not in another.
