Remove free posts/comments. Then perhaps make it more expensive to post

Why is there no war on inflation? Because inflation is what they use to fight all the other wars

Offered my first channel for sale on MAGMA 🔥

How come the "stacked" number on user profiles doesn't include the sats earned from airdrops?
Those sats were definitely stacked, and should be an indicator of value provided to the site (just like sats stacked via posts/comments)
reply
Wait, it doesn't? Why did I not know this?
reply
Another thing I should do but just haven't.
reply
Just checked. Stacked on user profiles does include airdrops.
It's top users that doesn't include airdrops.

Today, I'm giving a presentation about attachment strategies in the Lightning Network. :)
reply
What do you mean by attachment strategies?
reply
Paraphrase from my slides/the paper I'm summarizing:
An attachment strategy S takes as params G,k,cap where G is a snapshot of the lightning network, k is the budget (# of channels), and cap is the capacity and returns a list of nodes with which to open channels.
Note that the authors don't consider nodes with pre existing channels. This is a strategy for a joining node to use.

What is boost exactly doing? I just boosted one of my posts, but it doesn't seem to reach top comments.
reply
It "boosts" your post higher into the frontpage ranking for a limited time - allowing more users to see it who might not otherwise upvote it. The more boost, the longer and higher your post will be on the frontpage.
reply
What is the calculation? Is it in seconds? And what is the front page? Is that recent or top?
reply
The frontpage is https://stacker.news.
The basic algorithm divides the boost by a power of the time since a story was submitted - this is added to its normal ranking (based on upvotes) and ranked relative to other stories on the frontpage. It's explained in the faq.
There is no direct parity between seconds and sats.

@k00b how is going with the login migration tool? How about a one time migration, from lnurl-auth to another lnurl-auth or user/pwd? And once the old lnurl-auth was migrated to a new one, will not be valid anymore? Or if is not with user/pwd, then maybe just an intermediary code to be used until next login with lnurl-auth is done ?
reply
Good. Should have it done this week. It's a huge pain.
How about a one time migration, from lnurl-auth to another lnurl-auth or user/pwd?
The plan is to allow you to link/unlink a node (via lnurl-auth), twitter, github, or email to your account once you're logged in. So you can use multiple login methods and replace or remove any login method.
reply
I'm just about done. There's still:
  1. big foot gun warning when user is about to remove their last authentication method like having them type
I want to unlink my last auth method, and if I logout, even accidentally, without linking another auth method, I will never be able to access my account again
  1. a few backend hacks to get this to work need to be fixed
  2. general polishing
reply
Nice job. Will be incredibly useful.
