Now that we have a territory for such topics, thought I would get any advice SN users could offer on my project.
Project: I have some old ~10 year usb ASICs (I don't want to state make/model at the moment. I understand this will hinder advice) that I have been meaning to see if they still work. If they do work I will used them for educational purposes (history lesson, mining pool config, etc..). I am aware these Asics are not profitable and will never reach payout threshold.
By work, I mean in two ways:
  1. Hardware - Are they burned out and will Windows (or maybe linux) still be able to find drivers.
  2. Mining Pool - Will different Mining pools even play ball with such a low end ASIC.
First question: What mining software would be good for older Asics on windows? Options: CGMiner - I see a lot of different versions out there BFGMiner - https://github.com/luke-jr/bfgminer I welcome input on other options?
Thanks in advance.
Thanks for suggesting this! I have butterfly labs miner!! Hahah I'm a real OG!! I'll give it a spin!! I'll fund out some answers and write a bit later.
