I have to admit, I don't know many openings. I've been trying to stick to one and master it. That 1 for me right now is the Queen's gambit. I like controlling the middle of the board.

for black against e4 i have exclusively played the french for years
as white i play exclusively the english. (1. C4)
both of these openings benefit from being flexible and responsive to their opponents, which i like.
