Even though @DarthCoin has a more controversial style, he's contributed a lot of good literature, and somehow, I feel his absence on Stacker.News. What do you think?
He said his work on SN was done. Makes sense he put a lot of work in.
He’s still on Nostr tho. 🤙
reply
Nah, I muted him ages ago. Being a hardliner that doesn't exist on the same plane of reality as everyone else isn't useful for me.
Bitcoin needs to shed these sorts of people, not worship the ground they walk on. You can create good shit without being an asshole. Reminds me of the early days of the Linux/FOSS community we (mostly) grew out of

Missed in Bitcoin content. Missed in reviews and tests for wallets and software etc
Not missed for terminally online political/culture war hamsterwheeling.

good advice, CUMDUMPSTER haha

He contributed lots of content that was useful to lots of people.
In my experience he was painful and unproductive to interact with. Good work doesn't make up for being an asshole.
reply
He will be back.
reply
Probably only if there is a way to filter out all the non bitcoin territories
reply
Yeah, I'm curious too. In the recent comments, he sounded very bitter and like he has no interest in anyone anymore, innit
reply
Sometimes I wonder if he posts under a nym

Say this is @Darthcoin's voice

I am a maxi like Darth, but I have bad news for him....bitcoin is not going to proceed in ways that he approves of long-term.
One of the downsides of holding narrow and militant views of things is that future changes are far more likely to happen outside that strict approval window rather than within it.
Mainstream adoption must involve IOU-bitcoin to some degree, there is simply no way to onboard a billion people without it. There is not enough time available at 7 transactions / sec for there to be any other solution than "paper bitcoin".

AFAIK he hasn't disputed this, what did I miss?
This fact also doesn't mean we (maxis) should embrace every bullshit scam (federations) that makes false promises on how to mitigate trade-offs.
holding narrow and militant views of things
The alternative is holding popular and unprincipled views. Long term things evolve around the nuances of principle.
reply

Its not "either / or".
You can be both principled and also acknowledge that things will likely change in negative ways that impact those principles over time.
reply
I think we're at very a different understanding of the nature of principles
No one is denying the existence of entropy, but many things are constant, and to forget or dismiss those is to repeat the errs of history.
reply
Ok shitcoiner.
speculating on @DarthCoin behalf here.
reply
I'm not a shitcoiner, I'm not excited nor for IOU-Bitcoin....its just that I'm a realist and try to not engage in utopian thinking.

I miss him.
reply
Certainly. I sense that he's still lurking around, making his presence felt through anon when something really pisses him off. Once we have subscriptions I think he'll be back.
reply
Always expecting him to snap at shitcoiners when they post but he doesn't anymore, kind of sad...still active on other chats (e.g., LNBits, Zeus) where his feedback on testing tech is highly appreciated
reply
Everytime I post something on stackerNews I'm waiting when @DarthCoin will come, and he doesn't
reply
He definitely grew on me. Not sure I'd like to know him IRL though. Hard to know from people's online personalities though.
reply
@DarthCoin's absence is felt
reply
I've noticed that @DarthCoin's unique style might not be everyone's cup of tea, but his literary contributions are undeniable. It's a shame that he's not around on Stacker.News anymore. Do you miss him too?
