So Uber provides multiple safety checks. Drive ID verification, car verification, among other things. I'm wondering how these safety features will work in a decentralised platform.

Uber's 5 star rating system went a long way in weeding out the bad drivers before all the regulations were implemented.
People who don't want to deal with the risk could only accept rides from experienced, highly rated drivers.

Have a look at the example guild charter. The first point mentions vetting of drivers. But yeah - no idea who is responsible in the end for the vetting process.
I guess the guild for each city has to self-organize all the processes mentioned in their charter.

Seems like being profitable before having a product is a curse.

I've heard of Arcade City, but I didn't realize this is what they were building.
reply
Very cool. Didn't see any app store links on their site, is the project live yet?
reply
They have a web "terminal" working.
Want to let @ArcadeCityHall know that your city is ready?
Show support by sending some sats for your city / any city. Mostly just a "stress-test" of their revenue share.
First log in via Terminal: https://arcade.city/terminal Once logged in, visit the Stress Test page: https://arcade.city/terminal/stresstest

Feels like I'm stress testing their website. I'm trying to add sats to vote for my city, but nothing is happening when I click "Pay 5 sats".
Edit. Okay. Never mind. I think I've figured things out a bit.

It doesn't look like it. According to their roadmap, they are planning on a July launch.
reply
True, I wonder why they're opting for a global release, rather than a focused launch in a single market to start
reply
Was wondering the same thing, since taxi norms and regulations are so incredibly heterogenous

That's what I remember. I wonder if users were negatively affected by the DAO split. I think they were live at the time. Maybe why they became bitcoiners.
reply
Yes, they have since realized their folly:
Read more about our pivot to #bitcoin.
Our previous ERC20 shitcoinery was a massive waste of time. It incentivized us to focus on speculative price action rather than product development. Never again.

Once this is up and running, it will likely be the first exposure to bitcoin for a lot of people. Especially for developing countries.
Our top 3 markets for initial focus will be Texas, the Philippines and Brazil.

Hey! Filipino-American Lightning maxi here:
Pouch.ph is the first lightning wallet with Philippine fiat/banking rails so we're excited to be helping with arcade.city's traction here wherever we can. :)
Also note we're also working on adding USD/ACH with Prime Trust so stay tuned for a US launch in a few months. We love Strike.me but we want to help with lightning adoption in the US too :3
