Many de-googled phone users use these apps. I suggest deleting and finding alternatives.

Yes they are and nothing. They probably won't remain open source.

This is a good Q that shouldn't be deleted
Aren't they all FOSS? What stops someone from forking and removing the ads?

Issue with this is that just forking isn't enough. They need to be maintained and that needs to be sustainable. To early to say if that will happen.

Yeah, I agree with you. I guess I don't "use" these apps much. I haven't tried Proton Calendar. I try to avoid using SMS altogether so this crappy app helps with that.

Yeah SMS is very insecure. I barely use it. What E2EE messaging app are you using btw?

I test and try many but the only one I've been able to move people to is Signal. It has a few tradeoffs but its good enough IMO.

I want a GPS/mapping solution. OrganicMaps is not very user friendly and is often out of date

Nextcloud is great if you are open to selfhosted contact sync, calendars, and tasks.

I use
https://tasks.org
app and sync via nextcloud. Tasks.org is the best task app I have found on Android.
