Fountain 0.4.0 has arrived - earn for the value you bring to the platform. \ stacker news ~bitcoin

I loved the idea and am still excited about Fountain, but for now my experience has been a bit frustrating. The first day was great, stacked lots of sats. But after a few days, the earning function just stopped working. While I listen I can see the sat counter going up, but every minute or so it resets back to zero. I understand that for now the funds available for distribution might be low and would grow later, but it would be better to have a more reliable indication of how much you are earning. This 1... 2... 3... 0 loop is quite frustrating.

Hopefully these kinds of bugs can be fixed, I think this app has a huge potential.

Update: today I installed an update and now earning seems to be working pretty smoothly. Very exciting!

Thanks for the feedback and sorry to hear you're seeing these issues. We've been having quite a few problems with our systems scaling with the growth - and also a bunch of false positives on our bot detection systems...

Things should be much more stable now but it may take a few weeks for us to get all the kinks ironed out.

Great concept! But the battery drain is crazy. A few hours listening on my iPhone and the battery is empty.

Had the same issue but figured out it only happens with episodes that weren’t downloaded before playing it

We're aware of some performance issues when streaming episodes rather than playing from a download - we're working on getting a fix out ASAP.

Fountain is a well made app with a lot of great potential, unfortunately it has decided to fund itself by running ads for companies which make money by scamming the bitcoin community.

Buyer beware.

After talking to the parties involved directly on this matter I want to update you all that they also shares my concerns with protecting the bitcoin community from potential fraudsters.

I can truly say I am really impressed with the team over at Fountain and I think they are just trying to navigate this crazy ecosystem as best they can with the rest of us.
