Yes, it is a good place to ask questions but also Stacker News can be too much latest advanced information for a newbie. The path should be easy.

Start with the White Paper, configurate Nostr and 'x' accounts to follow top content of Austrian economics and Bitcoin (What is money show, Bitcoin University or The Path To Bitcoin) and subscribe to the Fountain App. Invest some time in reading stuff on Lyn Aldens homepage and start practicing the use of Lightning Wallets to get a feeling that BTC is alive. SN gives You a good news and event line, too. Welcome and enjoy

I think it depends on the person and audience. As an initial entry point the white paper is good for engineering / tech types but is probably too dense for many newbies.
I think the most important prerequisite for someone getting bitcoin is to start questioning “what is money”

Education is key! I do not recommend start with "GET OFF ZERO"... Bitcoin need to be a conscious chose, not an imposed suggestion or action.

Getting off zero leads to the rest.

Fidelity has some good executive summaries. Key benefits:
  • relatively short and quick to digest
  • “trusted” source
  • frames an understanding of money and differentiates bitcoin from shitcoins

Actually I will employ the rule “Begin with the End in Mind”. Non-Bitcoiners would likely be skeptical about this digital gold as they have heard a lot of bad press about it - drugs dealing, money laundering etc. So if they can be enlightened that Bitcoin helps address real-world needs, I believe their hard-liner attitude towards it will be softened.
Since I’m using Bitrefill, I will teach them how they can use the sats they accumulate from various sources - Stacker News being one of them - to buy gift cards associated with their daily expenses. There are other avenues like the Bitcoin Company and Xapo debit card, so they can explore all these options and settle on the one that aligns most with their lifestyle.
Once they see that Bitcoin is a legit currency, I’m sure they will be inclined to find out more about it - even run their own node or whatsoever.

I've always liked referring people to Vijay Boyapati's article The Bullish Case for Bitcoin from 2018 but still relevant today, which has some great infographics.
I've also really like Bitcoin is the Great Definancialization by Parker Lewis.
Kind of stopped reading the newbie articles so there might be some better ones.

Read "Broken Money".
Get off zero I'm afraid will be interpreted: buy $50 worth of sats, keep on an exchange, lose / get rugged / sell for $100 because pRoFiTS <salivation emoji>.

Get off zero via blink.sv because it also has a little course integrated

They ask me: how to buy? I recommend them learn how wallets work.
Without basic understanding they'll lose their Bitcoin. I don't want bo be responsible for this. I want to be responsible for their success
