It was a mixed result for the Heat in their Round 8 series against the team they are chasing for second place in the ABL, the Brisbane Bandits. They split a four game series, two games apiece. The Heat remain in third place in the ABL with a record of 18-13, which places them half a game behind Brisbane and 2.5 games behind league leading Adelaide Giants.

The Heat dropped the first game of the series 3-2 before storming back with a huge 16-3 victory in game 2. They secured a solid 4-0 win in the third game of the series before suffering their own blowout loss, 14-6, in the final game.
