Choose one NBA player who you think might be traded and predict where they will be traded to.
If the player does get traded during the season, you get 500 sats.
If the player gets traded to the team you predicted, you get 1k sats.
Bonus: 5k sats if you also get the terms of the trade correct: i.e. other players and picks.
I'm only going to pay out unique predictions, so ties will go to whoever posted first. Also, these are predictions not postdictions, so don't bother replying with a trade that's already been announced.
Alright let me kick this thing off. I gotta go with my man Spicy P. He has been a remarkable player and dutiful Raptor but it's time for a new core built around Scottie B.
We will miss you Pascal but I hope you have a great run in the playoffs with the Indiana Pacers.
Siakam, Poeltl, Trent Jr to Indiana for Hield, Turner, Walker a 1st and a 2nd.
Even with the Halliburton injury? Brave pick
Didn't even know he got injured. Grade 1 strain, he will be back in a couple weeks. Plenty of time for my trade to still occur.
Since I don't get to make any predictions, my next best option is to neg all of you as you make yours.
You should be able to make a prediction. What's the fun in that? I will zap you if you are correct.
Alright, but I'm going to keep negging everybody.
Level 2 victory! 1 kilo-zap
Edit: I wrote this reply yesterday, but forgot to post it apparently
I like my trade but I think I like the Raps trade better.
Not sure where either SN Woj is today so I am the Woj now.
Grizzlies trade Xavier Tillman to the Celtics for two second-round picks.
Oh man! I was too busy writing a book report for siggy.
I'm surprised the Celtics were allowed to make a trade where they just brought in salary, but it's a nice pick up for them.
Haha. Are you talking about his writing contest or something else?
I haven't even started my entry for the writing contest. I need to get cracking.
No, I just finished reading a book and was writing a review of the series it's a part of.
Cool. I look forward to seeing the finished product.
Celtics receive:
Xavier Tillman
Grizzlies receive:
Lamar Stevens
2027 second-round pick (via Hawks)
2030 second-round pick (via Mavs)

Probably a few more bigger trades later today. I expect both the Lakers and the Warriors to make a move.
Will the real SN Woj please stand up.
I'm going to take Donovan Mitchell to the Miami Heat.
The trade is actually way more straight forward than I thought it could be: Mitchell for Herro and Caleb Martin, plus two first round picks.
Mitchell is the proven playoff scorer that the Heat have been missing. Herro can largely replace Mitchell's production for the Cavs, plus he's still very young and can potentially grow into more alongside Garland. Martin is exactly the kind of athletic two-way wing the Cavs have been missing.
Note: thanks to @grayruby for pledging to fund my reward if I happen to get this right.
Woah.
I thought I was spicy picking spicy P in a blockbuster 6 player deal to Indy.
I think my sats are safe. Mitchell isn't getting traded.
If the DeRozan Leonard trade showed you anything, it's that you can be the franchise player, want to stay, loved by fans and teammates, and still get traded. No trade is off the table in this league. And Mitchell to the Cavs is far from what DeRozan was to the Raps.
That being said, I don't think Mitchell is a good fit in Miami. Both Mitchell and Butler are ball dominant players and need the ball to thrive. Bringing Mitchell to Miami will end up under utilizing his potential, while at the same time taking away Butler's time with the ball.
I think it's safe to assume the Heat wants to build around Butler and he has become their franchise player. Butler needs an elite spot up shooter that can step up in big moments to win. Which is probably why they were salivating all over Dame when he asked to leave Portland.
The theory from Heat reporters and fans, is that they actually want to look towards building around Bam. They're thinking of Mitchell as an upgrade of the Herro/Lowry spot.
There's also a desire to lighten the offensive burden on Jimmy, which frees him up to do more of everything else he's great at and preserves him for the playoffs now that he's getting older.
I'd rather see the Heat go after guys like Caruso who are great complementary guys.
Also, don't forget that Pat Riley is a big game hunter.
When you put it like that, I guess this trade has merit. But I still don't think Mitchell and Butler will play well together. It's as if they take away one another's game instead of complimenting it. We shall see how this goes... But I do agree that Mitchell will not be staying with the Cavs for very much longer, I just don't know which team he will be headed to.
Damn you guys are getting serious with the analysis here. I need to up my game.
Why not? The worst kept secret in the league is that he's not going to resign with the Cavs and their season's been derailed by injuries to Mobley and Garland.
Why do they need to make a move this year? Don't they have him signed through next year until his player option kicks in?
NBA teams usually start freaking out about this stuff pretty early, plus he and Garland aren't a great fit, since neither plays defense.
Are you planning on watching the Raptors defeat the Lakers?
I didn't even realize they were playing tonight. The Lakers have been a real downer to watch lately, so I'll probably get caught up in the morning.
In LA so it’s the late game for me. Watched a bit of Knicks and Blazers earlier but wasn’t much of a game.
Didn't want to post a separate post just for this, so I guess I'll talk more NBA trade here since this post is pinned.
Today, Feb 1, 2024 the Grizzlies traded Steve Adams to Rockets for Victor Oladipo and 3 draft picks. Details as follows:

SN Woj Bomb!
What is the point of this trade? Salary cap stuff?
Just a guess, but I'm thinking the Rockets want to build around Sengun. They probably want a tough and more consistent backup center for Sengun so they can rest him more. Currently, Boban and Jock Landale don't seem to be able to fill those shoes. Adams was hurt and didn't play at all this season, but he's expected to recover and be able to play starting next season. Adams' stat line prior to getting hurt is a huge upgrade vs Boban/Landale. But with this trade, the Rockets will have a center overload, and will probably make some moves in the off season.
Also, as a tough, hard working veteran center, Adams might be able to teach Sengun a thing or two and be a good role model for the young talented center.
That makes sense. I'm a big fan of Adams and he pretty much epitomizes a "tough and more consistent backup center".
Dejounte Murray to the Lakers for D'Angelo Russell, Rui Hachimura, and 1st round pick
That's probably the smarter trade, but I'm starting to think the Lakers will be the Zach Levine destination.
Levine makes sense for the Lakers too, because they obviously need the 3 point shooting. But I think that contract is such a pain in the ass that the Lakers wouldn't want to touch it. I think they're also looking to up their defense and Levine has nothing to do with defense. At least Murray showed that he was able to play good defense even though his defensive numbers are slipping a bit now compared to the Spurs days.
I agree with all of that...but something tells me the Lakers will screw this up and go with Levine.
Post LeBron, Levine and AD actually might be a solid tandem.
How well the Lakers perform after LeGM retires is probably the last thing on his mind. But I could be totally wrong. We shall see what moves the Lakers make, but they will definitely make a move.
Taking another look, I feel that Murray actually fits better with the Warriors, because he is a ball dominant player and Steph is so good off ball. A major reason why Murray didn't work out with the Hawks is that both Young and Murray are ball dominant guards. Yes, I know the Warriors already have CP3, but he is not only hurt, but also way past his prime. Give Young a spot up shooter in Klay and give Curry a point guard that can also play defense, win win. But I've made my pick and will stick to the Murray to Lakers trade.
Wow! Klay for Dejounte would have been a very bold prediction.
It's so obvious that Klay needs to be traded if they want to compete for another title with Steph, but I'm not sure if they're willing to do it.
I don't see this one happening. Klay isn't the same guy anymore and if Hawks want someone to compliment Young wouldn't they want a guy with some term?
It would have to be Klay and Kuminga (or whichever young guy Atlanta likes) plus draft compensation and Golden State would have to take back some salary that Atlanta wants to move off of.
I think the main reason it won't happen is how much more Klay earns than Dejounte. It's just a hard trade to work out mechanically.
I like Levine to the Lakers.
Full trade, per ESPN Sources:
Knicks: Bojan Bogdanovic and Alec Burks
Pistons: Quentin Grimes, Malachi Flynn, Evan Fournier, Ryan Arcidiacono and two second-round picks.
Siakom to the Mavs
27th 1st
28th 1st
Grant Williams
Tim Hardaway Jr.
I like those guys for Toronto. @grayruby, how do those terms sound?
That is a pretty good trade for the Raps if it's available.
Partial victory! 500 sats
Sweet, thanks!
Nice. Do you want to take a stab at the trade details and try for the 5k bonus prize?
For whom?
Mavs are going to want another forward, so I'm guessing they'll try to get Kuzma from the wizards. (Hardy didn't break out like they would have hoped and they need more scoring from the wing)
Warriors move on from Chris Paul. (likely with a pair of 2nd rounders to a bad team to absorb his contract...Pistons fit here)
OKC adds Andre Drummond to be a rebounding big off the bench in limited minutes. Lets just say 3 seconds and Poku as the trade package because the asking price should be low.
Unfortunately, I don't think there will be any big name players moving this deadline.
Pick one to count for the contest. Fwiw, I really like the last one.
Going with OKC getting Drummond for sure. Mostly because I've been following OKC all year and think that this is the move that makes them legitimate contenders to make a run in the west by helping them match up with bug frontcourts like Denver and Minnesota.

First proposed here
Isaac, Ingles, and a 1st for Herro and Martin
@grayruby made a post for all of today's trades.
Oops, sorry for cluttering your contest post.
no problem, I just didn't want you to miss out on anything there
Woah, Raps still making moves
