While everyone was celebrating the new year, an obscure pull request began picking up massive support and comments in the bitcoincore project. It has now culminated into a movement of its own with results to show for it.

We have come up with a plan to award the giants of our times who make over-sized contributions to the health and the effectiveness of the Bitcoin network.

The person of the year will receive the prefix "Dr." for the remainder of the year, along with a 3% sat split from all donations to the project, in the same time table.

We hope this incentivizes future engineers to improve cohesion and efficiency and decentralization of the network for generations to come.
