Zap to Zero Day 13

I am going to speedrun this one [0]. I got up late because I stayed up late (duh); yesterday's post took me way too long to write because I tried to double-check everything; I had a lot I wanted to write about and then I didn't get as much stuff done as I wanted. I notice that I am already rambling too much. But like I learned from an inspiring earthworm on here: Just show up even though just showing up is often the hardest part.

Okay, there is definitely something weird going on with our calendar or I am very confused or it's both. I created 6 posts yesterday not 2:
Funnily, when I use the calendar component, it thinks I created 0 posts:
Need to create another bug report in Github.
I am going to count the posts and comments using my own profile in these charts now — at least in the data points from yesterday:
As you can see, @grayruby and his mercenaries have won the battle of yesterday [1]. I wasn't able to hit zero yesterday. But the show must go on since the war is not over yet.
Also, maybe it was just a Pyrrhic victory since they spent too many sats and the SEC is pumping the price of bitcoin via market manipulation now.
A Pyrrhic victory is a victory that inflicts such a devastating toll on the victor that it is tantamount to defeat. Such a victory negates any true sense of achievement or damages long-term progress.
The phrase originates from a quote from Pyrrhus of Epirus, whose triumph against the Romans in the Battle of Asculum in 279 BC destroyed much of his forces, forcing the end of his campaign.
Therefore, I will continue to call this series "Zap to Zero". Also, because I am a Sovereign Individual (even though I didn't read the book yet) [2].

Recent Superzaps

1. PR closed: datacarriersize: Match more datacarrying by luke-jr

@niftynei picked up the conversation around the recent PR from luke-jr again. I liked that since @Murch, @nerd2ninja, @petertodd, @netstatic, @xz, @9ener1c, @ZezzebbulTheMysterious, @kristapsk and @rijndael joined in and added their thoughts.
For example, @Murch mentioned that "many people overestimate the impact of policy" and included a link to his Concept NACK. @xz found my comparison of the approach in this PR to the War on Drugs interesting and went deeper into it. @nerd2ninja also replied to me and @petertodd nitpicked his reply. I also totally forgot that I am running the full-rbf patch that @petertodd provided a while ago. Not sure if I upgraded ever since and what would happen in that case. Maybe I did and the patch got overridden. Not sure, need to check.
Oh and @9ener1c did mention a similar analogy:
Just like in virology where a vaccine that doesn't completely block infection causes potentially dangerous evolutionary pressure, a fix would neeed to be (near) absolute.

2. Adam Back applying for a technical support position at Coinbase

I don't know remember how I found this post but if I have to guess, it was because @grayruby mentioned that swim is zapping his old posts so I think I searched which post he might mean. It was a comment to this post though so that made it harder to find. But it was a funny read anyway! I didn't zap it because it already had too many zaps on it.

3. SEC Denies ETF Citing Market Manipulation From SEC Twitter Account

Another great post from the @thebitcoinbugle (I finally learned how to spell the name). Dick Greaser also did an AMA a while ago where he mentioned that his name is Dick.
I also looked through their website yesterday and found a lot of hilarious play on words.
However, I think one opportunity was missed:
Give Dick News Tips
If you want to support The Bitcoin Bugle, feel free to send news tips dick pics to thebitcoinbugle@protonmail.com.
maybe it's only me who thinks that's funny and is still laughing about it

I think that was it. I started to use my bookmarks so I can easier write these posts. But I guess I didn't use my bookmarks yesterday much. So I had to use my wallet history to remember what I did on SN yesterday.

Challenge of the Day

Open meditation for one minute.
Become aware of your surroundings and how you feel like described in this video
[...] I think that was my first mistake: Meditating isn't nothing. It's becoming extremely aware of your self; of where you are; of the things around you. I am not a meditation professional but — for me, personally, I really liked the concept of open meditation: instead of focusing on something and trying to get all the thoughts out of your head; open meditation was trying to absorb everything around you. Notice everything. Every sound, every feeling, how does the floor feel under your feet. How does the chair feel under you. There is a person over there, there is a door over there. Just taking in everything and realizing where you are. [...]
— Gibi ASMR, [ASMR] Life Chat Ramble | Ear to Ear Whispering, (14:00 - 15:46)
I used to meditate regularly with the app Headspace. I always had sleep problems and meditating did help me to calm down before sleep. However, as always, I stopped doing it for some reason. I always say that I am consistently inconsistent. :)
I think the only thing that I've been somewhat consistent at in my life was writing code and probably only thanks to that, I am now here on SN, trying to write writing these posts to you every day. Since I always liked writing.

Song of the Day

Fear is the weakness in all of us It's sad to see you go It's not meant to be easy but you drag us down Burden of the evidence grows

<insert something clever about endings>
[0] A long time ago, I wanted to have at least one speedrun of Titanfall 2 under my belt. I joined the Titanfall 2 Speedrunning Discord and read a lot about movement tech, watched the world record in Titanfall 2 Any% and more. I really loved Titanfall 2 before Respawn and EA surrendered the multiplayer to hackers. But that didn't matter for speedruns since it was all offline. But I never started anyway.
[1] This is not an admission of guilt btw. It must have been Swim, not me.
[2] I also didn't hit zero a few times before since I didn't even try to wake up before the rewards to make sure my balance is at 0 before the rewards come in.

Listening to music also help me to sleep, I love to listen to this one lately, really calming.

I also used to do that (and it helped) but I couldn't figure out the best way to listen to music in bed; trying to fall asleep.
Using headphones got annoying since I can't move my head around and earplugs did hurt after a while. Sometimes, I also woke up entangled in them, lol
So I kind of stopped doing that, too. And listening to music from a speaker isn't always possible (annoying for others) and it's also not the same.
At some point (when I realized I have ASMR), I started to watch ASMR for sleep and that also helped. I still listen to ASMR occasionally since the ASMR feeling is also soothing. But I no longer do this for falling asleep because of the listening problem in bed. If I really have problems with falling asleep — like, I didn't fall asleep within 30 minutes —, I just get up and continue reading a book now :)
I still have vivid memories from my childhood how I thought I forgot how to fall asleep and now have to stay up forever and started to panic. The fear about that wasn't being awake all the time. The fear was that I didn't know what to do with all that time awake. So I was afraid of being too bored to much.

I use the phone, put it close but not too close where I can still hear it, and set the automatic closing time 👀

oh, I don't think I will ever get bored, that's always fun thing to do and try.

Try putting the phone under your pillow. It resonates through the pillow even at low volume

interesting, but then I also don't want to be too close to the phone, especially when sleeping:)

The virologist analogy seems particularly noteworthy today. Interesting that seemingly unrelated fields can relate it back to consensus and system design. Great minds like this keeping us all learning through Bitcoin.
@ekzyis This thread is a monster. Feel like after 3 strong coffees I can't keep up! Maybe I missed the info on zap to zero but think I understand the premise.

@ekzyis This thread is a monster.
I will take this as a compliment
Maybe I missed the info on zap to zero
You can read up about it in the first posts. They are linked in the table. It started as a game. :)
