Since your initial assessment and assumption was not correct.
I'm not saying that this is a required read or anything, but rather just highlighting that it's not written as a satire and it seems to be the real "mission" setting and explaining document for the company. It brings some good points and some smaller ideas that I would change.

I cannot seriously consider a document telling people to "think inside the box" other than as a neurotic expression.

The document doesn't say that. So I guess that's where we may be not understanding each other.
The document explicitly states that what the company prefers and "What works" is
"Out-of-the-box thinker: Craves creativity, innovation, understands that leaps of faith are necessary, and understands that not all value can be quantified"
