Before released Bitcoin on the 9th of January 2009, Satoshi shared in private some earlier versions of Bitcoin which had a few things different.
Some of the people shared the files years later, and thats why we have access to them.

One interesting fact is that the block time initially was to be 15 minutes and the difficulty would have adjusted once every 30 days.
