The document doesn't say that. So I guess that's where we may be not understanding each other. 

The document explicitly states that what the company prefers and "What works" is

I cannot seriously consider a document telling people to "think inside the box" other than as a neurotic expression.

I'm not saying that this is a required read or anything, but rather just highlighting that it's not written as a satire and it seems to be the real "mission" setting and explaining document for the company. It brings some good points and some smaller ideas that I would change.
