pull down to refresh

I've been reading about scientists decrypting prehistoric and modern-day human's genomes, and would like to have mine decrypted, too.
They've done this - amongst other things - to see what parts of the world were inhabited by which of the many early human forms, what their genetic makeup was, how it changed over the years due to migrations, as well as to gauge when a certain early human form's lineage dried out, went extinct.
Or in other words:
They wanted to gauge who fucked with each other, where they fucked each other, when they fucked each other, and who stopped fucking altogether
They've also been researching what genes changed over time leading up to the modern-day human, and what mutations led to evolve "X" or stopped "Y" from being part of our genome.
I find it really intriguing to have such a magnificent treasure trove hidden within me, without me being able to actually open it.
Owkay-dowkey, frens: How and where can I have my genome decrypted?
I know that this is possible for casual plebs, too, but I don't want to end up filling the pockets of some gimmicky mainstream-business for some generic lucky-draw results.
Anyone who has done this and can steer me in the right direction?!
-Your fellow fren, Fabs.
Your genome isn't encrypted. It can be sequenced (read) and or analyzed, but not un-encrypted.
There are several companies that offer some services affordably, like genotyping, relatives finding, susceptibility reports, ancestry reports, etc. One of them is 23andMe. I don't have any personal experience with them, but I know a couple of people who have and seem to be satisfied.

Yeah, I didn't know how else to name it... "Decrypting" it was.
I'll have a look at them.

I see. :-)
It might seem really cool to have your genome sequenced, and it might actually be. My advice to somebody interested would be to educate themselves before hand to prevent misinterpretations of the results, which might lead to unnecessary bad feelings or bad decisions.
Your genome sequence is simply information, and I think it's advisable to understand what that information means and what it can and cannot tell you before diving into it.

Right, and I've got a feeling that you can already enlighten me a mighty-fine bit!
