Territory founders can now pin posts up to 3 posts in their territories. OP's can likewise pin up to 3 comments on their posts.

@ekzyis made @siggy47's dream come true.

Now no one will use them and embarrass the hell out of me.

embarrass the hell out of me.

you're the dancing guy, remember?

reply

I forgot! You're right 🕺

reply

Oh and damn, this link shows it took me more than two weeks to get pinning done.

reply

Worth the wait

reply

What’s the rush, young man? Good things take time

reply

Seems you are easily embarrassed. 😜

reply

It's true.

Big use for me is to add an addendum to a post, especially if I've stated something that I've changed my mind on. Another is if someone adds valuable context whether or not it is popular. This has a lot of utility.

reply

Very true. I didn't think through all the use cases. Great

reply

Its a pattern on many apps and when you mentioned it I was really wishing I had it on one of my posts about ETFs because the stackers shifted my thinking.

reply

I'm sure they'll see a lot of use! We appreciate the push.

reply

I just used it so there is that

Pinned posts create a perverse situation, making it impossible to zap the original poster. It would only make sense to allow pinning after 24 hours if the original poster is not the same as the territory owner ? @sn

Mhh, you're right. I marked it as "MVP feature creep" in the PR:

  • [ux] allow pinned items to get zapped (requesting for comments, optional) MVP feature creep, let's get some user feedback first

But I was imagining pins to be used mainly content that already got old when I was thinking about it. Also, the UX around zapping wasn't obvious to me. But I guess I'll just allow zapping by clicking the pin icon as if it would be a zap icon.

It would only make sense to allow pinning after 24 hours if the original poster is not the same as the territory owner ?

I guess that's just a bandaid. I'll just add zapping

you are right. In regard to the icon, could it be a new one that had the pin and the bolt

reply

https://m.stacker.news/14381 something like that, different kind of pin

reply

Nice one!

reply

Finally! :) It is a very good initiative, thank you @ekzyis for your time and work invested!

I think not just @siggy47 is happy about this, but the majority of SN members!

Thanks again

reply

Can we request features for the PWA?

reply

@ekzyis, i’s the same I requested with @MerryOscar : #130366 … pull to refresh

You can

Should pinned posts be included in the home feed (hot, recent, and top)?

reply

No, they are limited to territory feeds.

Wouldn't make sense to include them in the home feed since territory pins would conflict.

Or were you saying something different?

Is this supposed to be like this?

reply

You mean that the pin icon shows up? Mhh, kind of. I can see that it's confusing but I thought it would also be confusing to now show it.

I will change it to only show in the territory hot feed (where it actually has a fixed position). In posts, pins are always fixed (no matter the sorting).

reply

The changes you made fixed it, now it no longer appears pinned in my items even if there are new items.

reply

We didn't make any changes though

Awesome update! Can’t wait to see how this plays out!

Nice! Thanks guys!

Awesome work. Is there a log somewhere of all the crazy feature requests from stackers? I assume GitHub…

Feels like an excellent ‘custom territory’ use case.
