Update 2
Living on the BTC standard is proving to be more challenging than I had anticipated, and it's only the first day. I hadn't realized how frequently I use EUR throughout the day; most of the time, you don't even think about it. Here are some issues from today:
- Had to drive to work as I didn't have time to figure out how to purchase a ticket using BTC. Still need to figure out how to buy gas, though.
- Received a 30 EUR fine; will need to figure out how to address this one, but I still have some time.
- Asked my wife to pay for the concert tickets as it was almost sold out.
So essentially, the only thing I could do was get my lunch with BTC by purchasing a Rewe (grocery store in Germany) gift card and driving to Rewe at lunchtime because I couldn't buy gift cards for any of the nearby shops. Buying a Rewe gift card from Bitrefill, however, was very smooth.
As I was quite upset with this development, I bought a Bitcoin hat from copiaro.de, a shop that accepts lightning. Maybe it's a bit too late as spring is coming soon ;)
Exploring the P2P market, but it seems like my wife will be my P2P market for a while. We will discuss it this evening.
Also, pricing in sats is not working at all at the moment. I spent 26000 sats on lunch and am still not sure how I feel about it. Not even talking about ~90k for a hat.
But it's only the first day, one step at a time, right?
