I've been around for a while but mostly keep bitcoin to myself. I don't find myself to be a particularly passionate or persuasive speaker, and quite frankly I do not want to be responsible for influencing other people's financial decisions. Also, I don't walk around talking about my salary so why would I walk around talking about my bitcoin.
I've shared with my family, none of them get it, except for my wife who I took a very strategic approach to
I've shared with old friends, and get basically no response
So I've kept it all private.
I decided that being a hermit isn't really that fun and since I spend a lot of time reading / thinking about bitcoin, maybe I should venture out and meet some other people who have a similar interest.
The experience was positive, but no overwhelming. It was a bar, which makes conversation a bit tough, and mostly the conversation felt a bit forced - but maybe just a result of me being new and not totally comfortable. Do we just talk about bitcoin? Wasn't really clear on the social rules here.

Overall, I would do it again and suggest that other people try it for themselves. I think I'd enjoy a more structured conversation / presentation & discussion, in a different environment.
Such a dilemma. Promote or Protect. Being a closet bitcoiner is so comfortable...

It's always good to do some networking with like-minded people, especially if you don't find anyone around you.
