Some of those sources of funding are not benign.

What do you mean?

Microsoft is hardly neutral. They usually embrace to extinguish.

OpenBSD is not in danger from any Microsoft or any other company.

You can't take money from the devil and expect not to have some issue arise. If Microsoft is funding them, it is to get them in one way or another under their control.

Do you really believe what you're saying? How will Microsoft or Google control an open source project? The direction and goals of OpenBSD have been very specific for decades and in fact they don't stray in the slightest. Now where you are deriving what you are saying I don't understand.
Microsoft is monitoring this project and many others for reliability, security and of course the SSH that everyone uses. Whether it's BSD, linux or Windows users...

Years of experience. Microsoft funds you, waits until you are vulnerable, yanks the funding, offers to help you IF you will do um a favor. The fact this surprises you means you are either a) young or b) with Microsoft either directly, or indirectly.

Microsoft is the 5th largest contributor to linux core and joined in 2016 linux foundation. That's all I have to say. Should I expect an announcement from the linux kernel developers soon? Which serious project doesn't have donations from those you describe as "devils"?
