yeah nostr looks dope - as a dev I am interested in getting involved or developing on it but also want to play with it a bit. Seems like a great protocol

Nostr is an interesting project but why don't they leverage Matrix instead?

I'm not familiar with Matrix but it appears to be federated and more complex. In nostr, relays are not required to talk to each other and data is not required to be stored on servers.

the specific challenge of the federated model that Nostr was working to avoid is addressed in the video - it's too easy to get banned from a server & then lose all your friends.
