This is a fascinating take. He comes off as a little too sympathetic to Putin I think. But his points are nonetheless highly pertinent. The US has played too much by a "the rules don't apply to me" mindset, and we need to focus more on deescalation and peacefully resolving Russia-Ukraine

It's fair to give a listen to someone's actual words, rather than what you've heard about them in your media. Russia is taking Ukraine, no matter what. The US can get involved further, or back off quietly.
But Putin saying he will engage in good faith negotiations is certainly a lie. He lied about intentions before the invasion, and he will not stop. He is there to conquer.

Author wants to talk about geopolitics as a rational strategist, but is playing in the playground of identity politics (corporate media). Avoiding critical thinking around relevancy is corporate media's job, not journalism. Perhaps this article might help some see that.
