It's fair to give a listen to someone's actual words, rather than what you've heard about them in your media. Russia is taking Ukraine, no matter what. The US can get involved further, or back off quietly.

But Putin saying he will engage in good faith negotiations is certainly a lie. He lied about intentions before the invasion, and he will not stop. He is there to conquer.
