Misleading title. Bitcoin was not exploited. Bitcoin is undefeated.
FixedFloat was exploited.

If no one else is going to step in, I guess I'll do it:
- Not your keys, not your coins.
- Get your bitcoin off exchanges.

But FixedFloat is an instant exchange (they don't get custody of your coins except for a few minutes/seconds while the incoming transaction gets the necessary confirmations).
Maybe the moral could be bitcoin only, don't do shitcoining. If you are going to shitcoin or swap between base layer and LN, by all means use atomic swaps.

But is it even possible to use atomic swaps with LN?

I think so: https://boltz.exchange/

Fair point. I didn't bother looking into it and didn't realize they used lightning for bitcoin exchanges. Therefore I like your less cliche response better.

Oof curious to see what it is, when I've tried this service before they required confirmations on both sides so it seems they wouldn't be vulnerable to the obvious attacks

400 BTC in a hot wallet for swap service is insane imho.

that's a pity, fixedfloat was one of the good ones and their support is top-notch. I hope they can come back soon.

Isn't this a swapping service? So they shouldn't really be customers that are affected right? So it's just their liquidity that got drained, would love to know more about the exploit, from the tweets it looks like it was an internal rugging by a dev allegedly.

This will keep happening as new people come into the space. Some just have to learn the hard way.
I was one of those people. I lost some to Celsius.
