Enjoyed the read. To add on, there is a Japanese word called Gaman 我慢. It means to endure. Being able to Gaman whatever shit life throws at you is considered a virtue. Whenever Japanese people face tough times, they will use this word to tell themselves to suck it up and hang in there.
Another phrase is called しょうがない. It means “it cannot be helped”. I think it helps the Japanese to remind themselves that sometimes, shit happens - and that’s nothing you can do about it except pick yourself up, stay calm and carry on
