pull down to refresh

I’ve shifted over the years and as I have a family and young boys now. I run and do strength training daily, drink tons of fluids, and sleep great! Every year I self reflect and try to be the best version of myself. I’m almost 45 and feel great! I have a great career as a Scrum Master that pushes me to take lean approaches and I apply that to personal life. We all have 168 hours in a week. How do you use those?
This sums up my thoughts. Just add faith for those that value it!
I give very little weight to the categories in the first pie.
I would basically just have "Family flourishing", "Feeling healthy", and "Intellectually engaged"

I think u/Undisciplined is who I want to be when I grow up.

It's pretty easy if you just don't apply yourself.

Great thoughts!

IMO, health, wealth and family are the things that matter most. Keeping up with all the three in good proportions and maintaining them continuously is the real value of life.

I’ve never seen a chart quite like this. I’ve saved it and will share this with friends and family. Really well done and completely the ideal way as to how I want to live my life.

The chart is from this book. I actually follow the authors on IG: @lizandmollie

Perfect, thanks for that tip! Such a great, balanced way to spend our finite time.

Yup totally agree! Don’t forget to embrace the suck! There are rewards on the flip side!

A good day is when I:
  • do something productive n meaningful at work
  • post something creative at SN
  • give my children great hugs
  • have my wife not be irritable towards me haha
  • sleep without doomscrolling at night
As you can see, because I’m raising two young kids at the moment, I have no bandwidth for friends and hobbies and exercise. Hopefully I will live a more balanced life when they grow older - but this will have to do for now
reply
Thanks for sharing. I’m similar with the young kids and get creative as I work remotely. I run over lunch with friends whose houses are close enough for us to run between.

Most certainly had a similar discovery in my 30s. I was making lots of money but living fairly unhealthy life.
I realized life is a series of accounts: Money, Family, Health, Spiritual, Fun, etc
You can decide to focus on one at the exclusion of others, but you are just draining those other accounts to do so. So you can maximize your "Fun" account at the expense of your Money or Health....but none of that comes for free....you will need to pay the piper eventually. Finding balance is really the key.

Your list reminds me of Maslow pyramid of needs and satisfaction

You have chosen a great topic. Now please imagine yourself in a country where it is very difficult to find a job and maybe there is a war. The majority of the world is in this situation. My goal is not to criticize you. These graphs may be relevant for a very limited group of people. Even in the United States, the number of people living on the streets is substantial. It seems that you are in a very lucky group of people. .

Fair point. You have a great perspective. Hopefully even with some days forward and back you can move forward on a yearly basis. God bless
