Briar project looks interesting. Does anyone know how it "connects directly with nearby contacts" without internet access?

Via Bluetooth or Wi-Fi signals if there is no internet with Tor available. https://briarproject.org/how-it-works/

Ahhh, the classic ye olde How It Works tab hiding in plain sight

The one interesting feature that we tried on a flight is sharing Briar application with another person. Briar creates a Wi-Fi hotspot, other person downloads the apk and can install it and then you can add each other through QR codes and then communicate over bluetooth. And the best part is that this actually worked.

That's incredible

I keep this bookmarked. It has good OSINT links and information.

Anyone agree with this quote: "OpSec gets a lot easier when you accept it's impossible to thwart a government attacker."
Basically, your anonymity and security efforts should be focused on private attackers, evil corporations, etc. Trying to avoid the government is a losing battle given how much power they have to spy, subpoena, and gather data about you.

It makes perfect sense to not defend against governments that are after you.
If we learned anything from regimes like the DDR, it's the fact that private citizens have zero chance of thwarting eavesdropping attempts.

What an amazing works... But not so easy to put in place for a single user....

Я не понял почему для Украины это нужно больше чем для других стран. Я живу в 20 км от линии фронта. Меня больше беспокоят сирены воздушной тревоги чем анонимность в сети и мои данные.
