This early version of Bitcoin's code shows significant differences from version 0.01, particularly in the proposed Bitcoin supply. Based on my analysis, two key parameters suggest that the original Bitcoin supply could have been either a total of 20 trillion Satoshis (equivalent to 2 billion Bitcoins) or simply 2 billion Bitcoins without any decimal or sub-bitcoin units, due to the way the code was written.

I'm seeking a second opinion from experts on this matter.

From my understanding, one notable change in the code concerns the initial block reward. Unlike the 50.00000000 Bitcoin reward in version 0.01, this draft suggests a reward of 10000.0000 Bitcoin. This adjustment doesn't point to the known total supply of 2.1 quadrillion Satoshis (21 million Bitcoins), but rather to a total of 20 trillion Satoshis (2 billion Bitcoins).

Additionally, it appears that in this early draft, Satoshi Nakamoto planned for Bitcoin to only have four decimal places, not eight, and set the block reward at a much higher rate of 10000 Bitcoin per block, as opposed to 50.

Moreover, the code indicates a halving event every 100,000 blocks instead of every 210,000, and a target block time of 15 minutes, not 10. This would mean the halving would occur roughly every 34 months or 2.85 years, instead of the established four years.

The code snippets in question reinforce these insights. The first snippet specifies a reward of 10000 without any mention of " * COIN " or " * CENT ", suggesting the absence of decimal or Satoshi units in this draft. The second snippet, featuring " 10000 * CENT " (with CENT equaling 10000), suggests a numeric system of 10000.0000 units. However, the absence of this notation in the first code snippet raises the question of whether any decimal or Satoshi units were actually included in this initial version.
