Interesting thought and probably (unfortunately) has some truth in it.
But there are ways to improve the lightning network to make it more accessible to people.

For small payments, custodial lightning is perfectly fine with me.
I have Phoenix as a matter of principle, but often just use WoS and getAlby for convenience.
I agree. But its not working for millions of people in a non custodial way.
