We're Not Worthy
At the conclusion of every NFL combine there is always one player that everyone is talking about because of some impressive feat they accomplished. This year is no different as the NFL media machine is still buzzing about Texas wide receiver Xavier Worthy after he broke the NFL Combine 40 yard dash record with a 4.21 second time. Incredibly fast.
Due to his blazing speed, he is moving up everyone's draft boards. Originally slotted to go in the mid 60's he is now projected to go in the late first round. Good for him but is he now getting overrated due to one event? Only time will tell, but I reviewed the last 10 names to break the 40 yard dash record and their wasn't a top 100 player among them. A few guys that had decent NFL careers but most never amounted to anything.
It remains to be seen if we are or are not worthy of Xavier's greatness. Some team is likely to take him in the first round and we know one thing- he is going to run very fast for them.
Personally, I would rather the 49ers stick to the script and draft for positions of need like OT or DE in the first round but others may prefer going for the big splash, high upside skilled position player.
Are you guys buying Worthy's stock or selling short?
Sats for all, GR
He was speedy. I think the 9ers would be a great spot for him, especially since aiyuk has been making grumblings about wanting out.
Chiefs is the obvious spot though. Cheap tyreek hill.
reply
I'd much prefer the Chiefs take him than a receiver who runs great routes and catches everything.

Take the top off the D so Kelce gets more open underneath... Damn... We really are going to have to put up with this whole chiefs dynasty for a while aren't we.
reply
I see the Chiefs play more than almost any other team and I can't really imagine Kelce being more open than he usually is. I don't know what dark voodoo he's using, but it's not natural to be that hard to cover.
reply
Big deals with the devil for sure... Dudes not that fast or elusive and yet he's running rings round defenders all the time.
reply
There was a MNF game against the Raiders where Kelce had 5 catches for like 30 yards, but 4 TD's. Every touchdown was wide-ass open and the fans saw every one of them coming.
It has to be sorcery. Even our defensive personnel weren't that stupid.
reply
🤣🤣 the guy is Houdini.
reply
Who's the most frustrating opponent you've had to endure? Barry Sanders (if you're old enough)?
49ers had him locked down until Greenlaw got hurt and then he and Mahomes absolutely torched Burks and I like Burks but anyone who is not elite Mahomes and Kelce are going to destroy.
reply
Ugh I don't want a first round WR. They are extending Aiyuk. It's a deep WR draft. I don't want a WR until at least the 3rd round. OLine, DLine, CB are all bigger priorities. Definitely could see the Bills or Chiefs taking him.
reply
We already have our speedster, as well as a generally stacked receiver room, so he's a pass for me.
reply
I saw someone post a suggested trade Raiders 2nd and 3rd for 49ers first. That's a slight overpay by Raiders in terms of point value but then you have 2 first round picks and can draft a QB with one of them.
If none of the OT or DE guys the 49ers are targeting are available at 31 I would do that.
You like?
reply
I do. If Penix, or one of the other top 6 QB's, is still there, I think that's the right move.
