I wasn’t aware of Threema. Anyone used it?
I also find it odd that plebs have gravitated to Telegram over Signal.

Yes. Both signal and Telegram require phone numbers AFAIK.

I have been running a Matrix-Synapse server for friends and family for the last 6 months. It's a bit temperamental with voice and video connections and it sometimes is unable to decrypt messages, requiring some intervention. I'd give it a solid B+. No mention of Sphinx chat in the listicle? :\ Does anybody have Sphinx chat working?
