I know this is dangerous to say in a bug fearing, meat hoarding, scared of Oatly, tribe like this one..... I am looking around and I see mostly, Bitcoiners here... love you all
I prefer Oat milk over all the rest. So creamy, So delicious, great for coffee or cereal. Its the best. I used to do the real stuff... really hardcore. like all the time. everyday. not anymore. it doesn't feel good in my little tummy.
Tell me why I am wrong and oat milk will probably give my babies cancer or whatever
Or tell me why you love your favorite milk the most
Or whatever, we can talk sheep if you want
Where are we at on the milk discussion here!!!!
I love it in exactly the two places you mention -- cereal and coffee.
For cooking, gotta stick with the real thing. When I bake for my wife (who has a dairy allergy), rice or coconut are better options, but I still prefer dairy there.
reply
That makes sense. I don't know if I have ever baked even one thing. My wife though...

Oat milk is a milk substitute without the nutrition of milk. It contains antinutrients like seed oils (canola oil, etc). Plus all kinds of extra chemicals, to give it a similar texture. It has almost no protein. Milk is one of the most nutritious foods around.
Why would you drink oat milk? There's lots of things that have been engineered by food scientists to stimulate our taste buds, but are long-term harmful.
This is coming from the perspective of someone who's been carnivore for about 3 months. But even before that, I tried hard to avoid highly processed "new" foods, that our grandparents would have ever heard of.

I'm going to put in a plug for a book here - The Big Fat Surprise by Nina Teicholtz. I wrote a post about it - This book is blowing my mind - The Big Fat Surprise by Nina Teicholtz.
This book was the mind opener for me, that showed me just how corrupt the whole system was, that created our "nutritional guidelines". It opened the door to looking at new ideas about nutrition.

What about if I take some oats and put them in a blender and make my own oat milk. That should be better right? Cows milk freaks me out. Not going to lie
reply
Avoiding the extra anti-nutrients in commercial oat milk would be a good thing. I think that this could be a useful step, one that may eventually lead you to dropping non animal-based foods.
I know it sounds weird, but check out interviews/podcast/videos with Anthony Chaffee, Shawn Baker, and Ken Berry.
It's been a game-changer for me.

Thank you 💚
reply
No, I don't like the whole idea of going alternative. Milk has to be from animals not from plants.
reply
Drinking milk from a cow could seem weird to some. Not me of course.
reply
What about humans. Wouldn't that be more natural than milk from other animals?
reply
It's indeed done in parts. Milking humans for babies is a developing trend.

Spare a thought for all those poor people who have to milk those oats each day. Its grueling, damaging to the eyes because the teats are so tiny, and they only get $1 a day!
Boycott oat milk now!
reply
I think this is really where we need to take the conversation. A dollar a day is not enough for milking tiny oats!
reply
We do, and so many people don't even want to acknowledge it's a thing because they love oak milk so much.
It's going to be a hard battle.
reply
Oat milk is creamy deliciousness!
reply
I agree.

Oat milk tastes like the milk at the bottom of a cereal bowl, and it makes my mouth feel sticky when I'm done.
I can't rembr the brand, but there's a company that makes macadamia creamer, and it's pretty bonkers. Otherwise, I like regular half and half or coconut milk from a can with the water and the cream and fat combined well
reply
Maybe that's why I like it. I'm trying to get back to that delicious cereal bowl of my youth.
reply
Raw milk is what milk is supposed to be. Sweet and delicious. Most people who don’t like milk have never had (real) milk.
reply
This makes sense to me. If I had me some milky animals I would probably be on it. More raw and unprocessed seems to generally be better.
reply
There's a coconut milk that I love. I don't like any other brand, but this one uses coconut water instead of filtered water and the result is fantastic.
reply
I love coconut milk as well for certain things. Coffee, not so much. What is the brand you are talking about?
reply
Brand: Califia Farms Product: Go Coconuts (there's also a coconut-almond milk blend from that brand, which I don't recommend)
Stores often don't carry it, even though the brand is commonly stocked.
reply
I'm pretty sure that is my wife's brand. So you must be correct.

Is oat milk similar to almond milk?
My friend recommended almond milk 🥛
reply
Oat milk is creamier to me and coffee is one of main main use cases. I use almond milk sometimes also. I am curious other people's thoughts on how the two compare.
