You are moving up the ranks. You might crack the top 5 next week if Siggy falls back due to cruising.
I ended the first day in 3rd. Classic distance running mistake, getting out to an unsustainable pace and then falling back.
I'm glad I moved up, though, because I intentionally tried to be more forthcoming with the zaps yesterday. Now I know to continue that strategy.

I think zapping top posts and comments early has a big effect. Also prominent stackers interacting with your posts or comments and zapping.
reply
Yeah, I also had some more aristocratic engagement than normal.

Not sure if this is right, but I think you won't lose ranking points if you don't do anything, since it's cumulative.
reply
That's not necessarily right. Your ranks in these categories depend on relative performance of posts and comments.
If you have the third best post and someone makes a post that outperforms it, then you now have the fourth ranked post, which earns less. The same goes for the other three categories.
Now, if no one comes along and passes you on anything, you'll keep your ranking points.
At least that's how I think it works.

If I don't post, comment, or zap, will I still lose msm ranking points? just want to make sure I understand correctly.
reply
Yes, I believe so. As new posts and comments pass your, your rankings will decrease.

It's hard to not notice that I've essentially spent 70k sats to get 20k sats ahead of you. If I don't climb the ranks, my strategy is going to look pretty dumb.
reply
Wasn't a good chunk of that for the econ territory?
reply
Yes, but it was from the first zap on a post that raised over 60k.
reply
If we are working under the assumption that k00b and kr are ahead of you and everyone moves up a couple spots then you are 80k ahead of me on the estimated rewards. So you invested 70k to get 80k.
reply
That's an ROI I can live with.
