Hello Stackers!
It is still March and we are still getting our weekly dose of music soundtracks.
I'm rolling right back to the childhood, with some of the saddest scenes in movie history (you know what I'm talking about).
Here's Never Ending Story!
Happy Monday all!

It seemed that a film in the 90's couldn't be released without an accompanying single and they didn't get any bigger than these two. The radio airplay was near constant.

Wet Wet Wet - Love is all around - Four Weddings and a Funeral

Bryan Adams - (Everything I Do) I Do It For You - Robin Hood Prince of Thieves

reply
I love both of these movies. And they are huge huge songs.
Prince of thieves is just 🤌🤌 Alan Rickman was such a fantastic bad guy.
reply
Arrgh the late great Alan Rickman, he was genius, he would just elevate any part / scene, well just the whole movie. Die Hard was another which he stole. Have you seen Galaxy Quest? Another great film he just steals all the scenes.
reply
Yes I've seen galaxy quest 🤣🤣 Rickman did indeed steal the show there aswell. Such a silly movie.
His portrayal of Snape might just be the best part of the harry potter franchise, and there were some huge huge names in there. Rickman was one of a kind. Rest in power.

The Beatles - Help!

We can't forget these guys. Here's the title track to two of their films.

The Beatles - A Hard Day's Night

reply
I'm slowly... Slowly coming round on the Beatles. I appreciate them more now that I'm older.
reply
Yes, me too, but more their later songs rather than the pop stuff at the beginning.
reply
I love the Pulp Fiction soundtrack. Is there anything else out there that's as good ? :)
reply
Classic. Great movie aswell.

Echo & the Bunnymen - People are Strange - Lost Boys

More horror film music, well sort of horror, wasn't too gory, safe for a teen audience. I went out and got the soundtrack because of this song. Great cover version by Echo & The Bunnymen. Would have gone down well on the covers day, which I missed 🙁, super busy. Original was by The Doors.
reply
Big call going echo and the bunny men. From this movie, im surprised not to see.
Manson covered it aswell.
My personal favourite is the celldweller Collab with zapp.
reply

Good Times - INXS & Jimmy Barnes

This was another cracker from the film.
reply
This movie had and excellent soundtrack hearing those back.
reply
Zepp. Damn you autocorrect... I love 3 different artists 3 different interpretations. All decent in their own rights.
reply

CCR - Bad Moon Rising - American Werewolf in London

This song could have been made for the film, fits so well. My first introduction to CCR was through this film. Wasn't sure which video to include, so here's the safe version.
reply
Awooo 🐺
CCRs bad moon rising is such a banger. Turned right up to 11.
reply
I love unexpected musical acts in shows and one of my favorites is the 4 Non Blondes song in Sense8.
reply
This song just lives rent free in my brain.
But mostly because of this stupid meme.
reply
Oh wow, I've never seen that meme. It's truly awful 🙈🙉😆
reply
And now it'll sit in your head rent free for at least a decade.
My apologies 🤣🤣

About a Boy

I was reminded of this film when I posted Killing Me Softly for Throwback Thursday.
I don't have the time to do this movie or the soundtrack justice but, seriously, if you haven't seen it, just watch it sometime! I'm posting this this scene (even though I hate U2 with a passion! 🤣🤣) because it's very funny and one of the end scenes that I really want to post would contain spoilers - so out of consideration...
reply
I've not actually seen this movie. I'm going to have to get onto it. Consider it added to the list. Great track. I listened without watching the video, just incase there were any movie spoilers.
I loved your throwback Thursday entry btw, killing me softly is one of the all time great and beautiful songs.
reply
Well Killing me Softly is featured in this film. I am very selective about what films I watch and endorse, as I don't like wasting time on hollywood formulaic rubbish. Hugh Grant is brilliant, as are all the other actors. I totally recommend this, hope you like it as much as me.
reply
I'll let you know. I'll wait til the wife's back before I watch it, she's away this week. But she's getting really mad at me if I watched a Hugh grant without her 🤣🤣
He's a fantastic actor and so much fun. I've enjoyed him in every role I've seen him in so far. He was hilarious as the unimpressed umpa loompa in the newer wonka film.
reply
It's probably Hugh's finest role, he even admitted it himself whilst promoting the Bridget Jones second film. Rather than playing the bumbling upper class guy he'd been typecast in, this is much more mature role and stretching himself as an actor. He was good in Paddington 2, with a Rickman esque scene stealing part. AB has a superb supporting cast, with a young Nicholas Hoult, Toni Collette and Rachel Weisz
reply
That's a star studded line up.
You'd better wait for her then! I'd feel the same. I'm a big Hugh Grant fan too. Oh my I haven't even heard of the new Wonka film, let alone seen it. Did you see him in Paddington?
reply
Yeah, he was hilarious in Paddington. Went back into his "bumbling upper class" type a little for it. But I'm ok with it cos it was exactly what the character asked for.

Back to the Future!!

I was in middle school when the film came out. We had never seen anything like this before in the cinemas. At the time, thought it was the coolest thing ever. It shot Huey Lewis and the News to fame and this became one of the anthems of a certain under-parented generation. But the film also blended the music of their parents into the story so well with classic rock n roll tracks from the 50s, such as Johnny B Good, making some of their parents' music also very cool.
reply
That moment where he plays chuck berry that hadn't even come out yet. Really fun movie, and a great soundtrack.

Sing - Really funny, feel-good, animated movie

(it gets really mental towards the end 😆)
The soundtrack on this movie is amazing. So many great covers. I'm not going to post the predictable ones (such as Taylor Swift or Elton John) which admittedly are fantastic.
The two I will post are

Jennifer Hudson - Golden Slumbers

This is the best version I have ever heard of this Beatles' track. She really captures the essence of the song for me. It's shivers time
Next up

Tori Kelly with Leonard Cohen's Hallelujah

Absolutely beautiful rendition
reply
That was a stunning rendition of hallelujah!
reply
And here are the two ladies performing Hallelujah together
reply
Just gorgeous. They nail this 😍
reply
Both Sing movies are really good. My daughter loves them.
reply
This brings back memories of childhood! love it!

reply
@grayruby it's your favourite 🤣🤣

Banger. I love this song. And film.
Did you know? Allegedly, Depeche Mode were lined up to take this track? But said they didn't want it. Took simple minds from 0-100 real quick.
reply
Depeche Mode did ok for themselves but that was an error in judgement.
reply
Just a small one. But it did give another band a chance, which meant we got two great bands. Benefits us all in the end.

Greatest Showman
From British Hugh to Aussie Hugh... Can't let today pass without mentioning this fantastic musical. Impossible to choose a song - they are all AMAZING! Fabulous performances all around.
reply
This is a fantastic show. And wolverine does a great job in it.
reply
So today is the last day for Movie Music Mondays?
reply
We got something new coming in April. Don't know what yet ... But it'll be a change of theme.
reply
ok well I'll try and bob back in later and see what else has been posted and maybe post some more 😉 I have a few more up my sleeve haha. I have a feeling @0b1CoinObi could spend all day here too, given the chance 😉😉🤣🤣
reply
It's been a really really popular thread. I'll have to figure out a way of keeping the movies along with femmes fatales, throwback Thursday, feel good Friday. And not over crowd the territory, especially now other users like 0x are bringing their content in like the covers post. I don't want suffocate the territory of stuff. I could make movie Mondays permanent and do away with "meta Music Mondays" but there's some SN history behind that, and I kinda like doing a monthly theme change to mix it up a little. I have more content that I wanna do than I have days to do em in 😭😭
reply
I hope that the movie music day will make a return in the future. I missed the covers day on Saturday so look forward to seeing that return as well
reply
0x did a great job with the covers. I'm looking forward to seeing it return aswell.
It could easily get overwhelming and, as you say, overcrowded. Just do what you feel is comfortable. Ofc there's no reason people can't create their own posts and I have been meaning to do this but just posting in the threads, as and when I can, seems to work better for me time-wise - apart from St Paddy's Day ofc!
reply
We haven't reached overwhelmed yet. At least not for me, I'm bursting with excitement for all of these things. But I wanna ensure that each thing and not just my stuff but anyone else's stuff gets it's time in the sun.
oh I missed the covers post! I haven't online much this weekend
reply
Fantastic track. 👊
