I recently watched Jack Mallers speak on Bitcoin. As always, he was killing it. He was sharing on the importance of proof of work. The thing he said that stuck with me the most had to do with satoshi creating time within bitcoin. I really didn't understand it at first. Now I have some thoughts.
To me, sound money is a accounting for of energy over time. The purest metric of our energy of this time-space, our “reality”, would need to exist outside of time and space as we know it. It would have a higher dimensional perspective to measure space in its entirety, and see forward and backward in time always.
Bitcoin lives outside of space, because it is digital, it is everywhere and nowhere. It weighs nothing and takes up zero space. It is an idea. Like the internet, Bitcoin is now source material, higher dimensional. This cannot be destroyed.
With the fiat clock, time is only illusion. We see the thing go tick-tock, but thats all it is good for. We can always manipulate time. We do this all the “time”. Re-finance, extend, recall, delay, expedite, accelerate, resubmit, re-schedule, leverage, postpone... manipulate. The fiat collective clock is designed and incentivized to slow down the exchange of energy over time and space (bureaucracy).
To me, time is an construct that humans collectively manifest into what we call real. It is real because we say it is real. What does it mean for Bitcoin to be outside of time?
Maybe Bitcoin creates higher dimensional time. POW makes this possible. There is a goal. A set of rules, aiming for a an outcome, that parallels our collective construct of time. While it is interpreted in human game, 3d time clock units, it is not at all tied to any actual clock. It can never be predicted or manipulated. Its completely unpredictable. And yet, always on time. Bitcoin clocks true time. Outside our time-space. Able to see to the beginning and the end, Bitcoin is that higher perspective observer of collective energy exchange.
Extraterrestrial time. Decentralized time. Divine time in divine time

not sure we can have a block time and call it a clock when sometimes you can take 122, 144 minutes not to reference the 5 days from genesis to block1..
time yes, clock.. not so sure

True. Not a real clock. Good for value over time..not making appointments

my headcanon is that stardates are block heights.
