I don’t personally use it, but Linux Mint has helped onboard lots of new Linux users. I’m sure several will go on to distro-hop like I did.

Well don't forget you can use any desktop on any distro. I've personally installed cinnamon on Ubuntu before and I have cinnamon on NixOs as well.
