Max continues to blow my mind. I remember when he lost 3 out of 4 (one loss to Poirier and two to Volkanovski) I kinda figured he was done for. Even though he lost to Volkanovski for a third time later Volkanovski has been on a rapid decline since then while Max has once again bounced back and continued to win.
Hes only 32 so I could see him make a run at the title but he does have 33 MMA fights so I do wonder about the damage he has and how much longer he can hold up for. If what you say is true for him to fight Topuria I think that this is the best time for him to do it. He has a ton of momentum and even though Topuria is undefeated Josh Emmitt went 5 rounds against him which makes me think Max has a chance!
I think Volk just had the style to beat Max. Then he didn’t bulk properly for Dustin, yet he did very well. With this recent performance, I have to agree with you. He has the ability to win the title again. Either one.

How many fights do you think he has left in him? I only see five maybe six left before the tires come off. That would put him at 38/39 fights and you don't see many guys make it to that point and if they do its often as gatekeepers, not title holders or challengers.

It depends on how the fights go, but I would like to see him retire at 35. His age I mean.

Yeah that makes sense and runs pretty close to the number of fights I see him having left if we go with 2 fights a year
