BIP324 v2 transport is now enabled by default in Bitcoin Core 27.0. Eavesdropping on Bitcoin connections and tampering with transactions is no longer at low cost. V2 transport also raises the cost of the censoring firewall, forcing them to either resort to a full MitM attack, or operate on a allowlist basis, rather than on a blocklist basis.
