With the current NBA broadcast rights deal expiring after next season, it was announced yesterday that Amazon Prime will be one of the league's broadcast partners starting in 2025-26. Amazon's deal would likely be for 10 years and include both regular season and playoff games.
Streaming services are definitely making a run at sports content. If you weren't already a member, would you sign up for a streaming service to get access to professional sports games?

I actually just subbed to ESPN+ for the NHL playoffs only to find out that ESPN+ does not show what the rest of the ESPN channels are airing, will be canceling as soon as the months up.

I hate when they do crap like that.

It makes no sense to me, I was so confused honestly

At the end of the day, I just want to watch professional sport , no matter where I watch it.

Would you cancel after the season? I did this last year with apple tv. They had a Friday night baseball game throughout the entire MLB season so I signed up but cancelled after the season.
reply
I cancel NFL+ after the season.

That makes sense.

Sometimes they can offer different sports, covering different parts of the year. For instance, regular season for soccer, in Europe, runs from august to may. Then other sports take over.

I wish these leagues would build their own broadcasting stations. Vertically integrate. And leave these networks, steaming services in the dust

You may end up paying an individual subscription for each sport. However if they are all included in one service , cost should be lower and could enjoy more options.

We do that now. If you have cable each league has their own tv package. Only time you can avoid it is if you live in your team’s location

In Canada, Rogers used to offer all the sports packages in one. So you got MLB extra innings, NHL Centre Ice, NBA League Pass and NFL Sunday Ticket for 30/month but now you can’t get nfl with it and it is 35/month. They sell NFL package separate for 250/yr.

Maybe this happens eventually or you see a joint venture amongst pro leagues to have an all in one streaming service.
reply
Yeah that could happen
