I saw that interview of Jack Mallers, and I agree in that lightning can be a payment system that every company can adopt and compete in, being all compatible between each other, and even keeping amounts in fiat if customers want to. Overall it would be much better than what we have today, but also it would mean that you may have 10 payment companies processing 90% of lightning transactions. That means 10 databases. It is going to be lightning bitcoin yes, but movements may just be database movements or defered batched settlements. As long as I can interact with them from my own zeus, I guess that's ok.
